Jennifer McGowen earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English, Rhetoric, and Writing and Photojournalism as a member of the Honors College at Ball State University. She was a member of the Ball State Flute Guild, Basketball Band, Pride of Mid-America Marching Band, Ball State concert bands, and the Ball State student chapter of Sigma Tau Delta. Jennifer was also the Secretary for Sigma Tau Delta and a Public Relations Intern at Emens Auditorium.

Currently, Jennifer is earning her Master’s of Arts in Public Relations at Ball State University. She works as a Graduate Assistant for Pruis Hall at Ball State as well as a Marketing Intern for The Robert’s Group Live. She is also the Head of the Pride of Mid-America Marching Band’s Public Relations Team.

For her 2020 summer internship, Jennifer interned at Festival Country Indiana as a marketing/public relations intern, mainly focusing on her skills as a photographer, designer, and writer. Jennifer McGowen wrote blogs for FCI’s website, did shoots of local boutiques and attractions for the 2021 Activities Guide, and designed the 2022 Festival Guide for Johnson County.

Following her first internship, Jennifer McGowen interned at Visit Fort Wayne in the summer of 2021 as a marketing intern. During this internship, she worked closely with the social intern to help find and locate local art, photograph art pieces, and help start the new digital pass that VFW named as the Public Art Trail. Along with this project, Jennifer designed graphics and scheduled posts for Visit Fort Wayne’s Pinterest account, wrote blogs for their webpage, helped photograph local events, made radio packets for giveaways, worked in the Visitor Center, and promoted events in the city for Visit Fort Wayne.

Jennifer also interned as a Public Relations Intern at Emens Auditorium at Ball State University. She began the internship in January 2021 until the end of April 2021, and finished it in June 2022. Through this internship, Jennifer designs posters and fliers for incoming events, photographs the events, creates and schedules social media posts, works closely with the other marketing, promotions, and graphic design interns, and develops an extensive analytics report to review each month.

For the start of her career, Jennifer McGowen hopes to become an assistant marketing director at a visitor’s bureau or a performing arts venue before working her way up to a marketing director. Jennifer McGowen is efficient, organized, and willing to attempt any task that is handed to her. When there is a problem, there is always a solution to be found.
